Church Closure Update

Greetings Grace Deliverance Baptist Church Family…

We want to update you on our response to the COVID-19 / Coronavirus outbreak. As we seek to comply with federal, state and local governing bodies, we have been monitoring their reports and recommendations closely. It is with much prayer and collective discernment that we have decided to close our church building and cancel all on-site services, meetings, rehearsals, and classes until further notice.

Our decision and response is not out of fear, but out of love and care for our church family and the neighboring community. Our heart in all of this is simply to keep vulnerable populations safe, and as an intergenerational church, we want to do our part to reduce the number of people infected and protect those who are at higher risk. We want to be a part of the solution!

The church building may be closed, but the church is open! Remember, we, the people, are the church and the body of Christ. Above all, we admonish you to earnestly and fervently pray without ceasing. Read, study, and meditate on the Word of God. Sing unto the Lord and bless His name.

Let us purpose to demonstrate the love of Christ! Pray much for one another, our families, neighbors, community, those less fortunate, our state, our country, our leaders and our world; especially those on the front lines: patients, doctors, nurses, housekeepers, and first responders. We encourage you to give someone a call, send an encouraging text or email, or go old school and send a nice card or note in the mail. Many of you who may have stocked up on food and household items, maybe offer to share some of what you have with someone who doesn’t have the means to buy those items themselves or is fearful for their health. Let’s love one another, care for one another, stay connected, and share our testimonies of God’s goodness!

Persons desiring to send their tithe and/or offering, can mail to one of the following addresses:

The Search Continues

Dear Grace Family,

Our search continues as we prepare to hear from the four candidates that the Search Committee has selected for consideration to be our new Senior Pastor. For the next two months we will hear from Pastor Alvin James, Pastor James Britt, Reverend Curtis Green, and Elder Brandon Jaye. They will each preach two Sundays and teach Bible study for two Wednesday. Afterward, you will complete a survey to return to the Search Committee. Please be prayerful as you listen to each candidate. The first candidate (Pastor Alvin James) will be preaching Sunday, January 10th.

You will be able to view the candidates Sundays on the church’s Facebook page (  or through the Sunday Zoom link. A Zoom link has been emailed for Wednesday night Bible study.

If you have not received any recent emails or text messages, please contact Lessie Johns, church clerk.
